FREEBIE! Easter Sight Word Game

Hey Dear Friends,
Here's my newest Freebie! It's a Easter Sight Word Game. I got the idea after playing "Spot It" with my niece the other day. I tried it out with my students today in fact and they loved it. I don't know what sight words you are working on right now, so obviously I chose ones that we've been working on, but I hope that they will work for you.
Have fun!
Love, Bri

A Galaxy Quest and GIVE-A-WAY!!! Yay for Blending!

Ok, if you saw my last post you were able to see the Cinderella Blending cards, well...here are the GALAXY QUEST BLENDING CARDS!!! It took me a while to get them put together but I think they turned out pretty great! I can't wait to try them out with my kids tomorrow...Last year my boys were obsessed with Star Wars as well and I had one little boy who would put Star Wars stickers on his math papers so that he would have "The Force" to help him during math time. Magically, it really worked! It was amazing. I'm really hoping that these will do the same thing for my little struggling readers right now...You can pick these up for $2.99 on Tpt and Teachers Notebook. I will also be giving 2 of these away as well, so the first 2 people to email me with the heading "GALAXY QUEST" will receive these cards! YAY:)

Cinderella Blending Cards

So, I first need to explain how this came to be...I have a few students who are really struggling with blending (to be honest they are just struggling with everything!) and I have been wracking my brain trying to think of a way to help these poor kids. Finally it hit me: STAR WARS! Ok, now you're wondering what Star Wars has to do with Cinderella...let me explain again. The kids who are struggling happen to love Star Wars so I started making clipart and formulating some activities to go along with the clipart to help with their blending. Then I started thinking about all of the little girls in my class who don't like Star Wars and knew that I needed something different for them, that's when I came up with the Cinderella clipart. So, here's the blending cards for Cinderella, and the Star Wars blending cards will be coming along later tonight. I'm just finishing them up (they are just slightly different). But you can pick these Cinderella Blending Cards up on TpT or Teachers Notebook for just $1.99 or I am also going to give 2 away to the first 2 people to email me at theartofteachingut@gmail.com SO EMAIL ME QUICK!!!:)

BLENDING LESSON PLAN

I am so proud of this lesson plan--I have been working on it consistently for the last two months, adding things, changing things, and making it just perfect for my classroom. I have already started teaching blending in my classroom (I usually start the third month of school), however, I still have quite a few students who are struggling. They just don't seem to get it and I started to realize it was because I wasn't making it "fun" for them, so that's when I started coming up with this lesson plan. I absolutely love the clipart and the activities. My kids love them as well (I started using it just this last week). My kids love that there's a boy blender and a girl blender--it's their favorite part. If you don't need the lesson plan you can purchase the clipart separately by clicking here. If you are interested in the lesson plan please click here from Tpt, or here from TeachersNotebook.

We're Starting To Get Eggs

We're finally starting to get eggs back on our 35 Book Challenge Wall and it makes me so excited! The kids have to read 35 books (by themselves) before they can color in the egg and return it to put under Horton. We read "Horton Hatches An Egg" during the first week of school and it really motivated the kids.

A Letter + A Sight Word + A Number A Day

This year the other kindergarten teacher and I have started a new program. Simply we call it the "Letter A Day" program, but in reality it's much much more than that. It also includes a sight word a day and a number a day. We use white boards and markers for this and it takes up about 20 minutes of our day. We talk about the letter for the day, what sound it makes, and how we write it. Then we write it on our white boards, we do the same for the sight word and the number. We simply rotate through the alphabet (changing it's order every time we go through it) and our sight words. That way the kids get their alphabet and sight words 6 more times during the year instead of just focusing on one a week. It works so much better and already I can see a huge improvement in my students. For the number we just use the number from that day in the month. For example, today's number was 4 because today is October 4th. This way you hit each of the numbers 1-31 multiple times during the year. Click here to get the specific format for this program.

Letters H-Z Giveaway!

Alrighty, I have done things a little differently this time...Instead of creating each character and making individual units I have created letters H-Z and combined them in one file. I have not yet created the worksheets for each character but when I do I will combine them as well to include all of the worksheets for each unit. This will save me time and you money. I have put up the Letters H-Z Unit on Tpt, however I will be also doing a GIVEAWAY! Wahoo!

How It's Going To Work:

I will be selecting 5 lucky winners to receive the Letters H-Z.
a. If you are already a follower:
You need to post my giveaway on your blog, then post a comment on this Giveaway, and send me an email at theartofteachingut@gmail.com and I will email you the unit back.

b.If you are not a follower:
You need to become a follower, post a comment letting me know that you're now a follower, and send me an email at theartofteachingut@gmail.com and I will email you back.

The catch is that you'll need to be one of the first five. Good luck everyone!

PS- I want you all to know how much I appreciate your support as I've been creating these units and figuring out new materials for next year. It's really nice to have friends to bounce things off of! Thank you everyone! High fives to all of you!!

New Unit: Letters Cc and Kk

I am teaching the letters Cc and Kk together next year. The reason I am doing this is because their main sound is the same. This way I can talk to my kids about that and use these materials to help reinforce it. I will also be giving away three free letter Cc and Kk units. Just email me at theartofteachingut@gmail.com with the heading: LETTERS CC AND KK. Good luck!

Letter A Unit and Vowel Unit For Next Year!

I have decided to make an ABC unit for my class next year. I've been looking and looking for something that would help my students remember letter sounds but I haven't been able to find any. Finally, I just decided that I would have to make them. Each one takes quite a while to make so I'll be putting them up on teacherspayteachers one at a time. The first unit up is for the letter A and I have also included a unit on vowels as well. The whole unit is 51 pages long. If you have any questions about them please let me know!

Thanks!
